Yes. The remote uses radio frequency (RF) technology and operates completely independently. No hub, phone, or internet required. - How many shades can this remote control?
Up to 16 shades—one per channel. Once a backinfive shade is paired to a channel, you can control them individually or control all shades paired to the remote at once. - Can I use both the remote and smart home control?
Yes. They're separate systems that work simultaneously. The remote won't interfere with smart home app & voice control, such as through Amazon Alexa, Apple Home, Google Home, or Samsung SmarThings. - Do I need a remote to set up smart home control?
Yes. The remote is required to program basic functionality for your shade such as upper and lower limits before pairing with your smart hub. Each backinfive window shade should be paired to at least one remote. Although, one remote can be used to pair with more than one shade. - Can you pre-program the remote with my shades?
Yes. If you order shades and the remote together, we'll pair them and set limits before shipping. Ready to use out of the box. If you purchase a remote control individually without a shade, you will need to program the remote. - What if I need to control more than 16 shades?
You will need to purchase additional 6-channel or 16-channel remotes.

- Returns: Defective product? We'll take care of it. We accept returns for manufacturing defects. However, because of the custom nature and programming involved with our accessories, we don't accept returns for change of mind or incorrect orders. If you receive a defective item, contact our support team with documentation of the issue. We'll review your case, arrange for the product to be returned for inspection, and issue a refund or replacement once we confirm the defect.
